For Authors

Thank you for considering publishing with us. We have two main publications, SITT Room and VSG Leadership Forum, focusing on different content, but the publication process is identical. We will walk you through the process on this page.

1. Before sending a pitch or request

Be sure to familiarize yourself with our guides and documentations. We also recommend checking out previous articles in the publication you intend to submit to.

Please review our Editorial Policies, Terms and Conditions of Content Submission, and Ethics Statement. You can also learn more about our specific guidelines at “Publish with SITT Roomhere, or “Request an Interview” for publication at the VSG Leadership Forum here.

2. Drop us a note

Have an article in mind? Send a pitch to pitch@UnbuiltLabs.com or a request for an interview to interviews@UnbuiltLabs.com.

While we will never publish your draft before receiving explicit written consent through email, please remember that you bear full responsibility over the disclosed information as the author. We always recommend requesting your employer or colleague’s approval of the draft if they are involved in any way.

To submit a pitch for SITT Room: Email an outline together with a writing sample to pitch@UnbuiltLabs.com. The writing sample can either be an essay you have written in the past, or a paragraph from the piece you intend to publish. We look forward to working with you whether you are a first-time or experienced writer.

To request an interview for VSG Leadership Forum: email us at Interviews@UnbuiltLabs.com with three questions you would like us to ask as a starting point, and a link to your Linkedin profile.

As a rule of thumb, we recommend keeping one article’s word count at 500-1000 words, whether that is a publication for SITT Room or the VSG Leadership Forum. You are welcome to pitch a series of two or more articles.

3. Working with us

If your content has been greenlit, congratulations! Please share your first draft through Google Doc when you are ready. Routine copyediting involves a round of fact checking and a basic grammar review. We will also ask you to clarify specific sentences if we feel that doing so will help the reader’s understanding.

You can learn more about what additional support from us might look like if you feel that you need it in the document Working with our Editors. We also elaborate on our Cross Disciplinary Review Panel process there.

4. Publishing

That’s all Folks! Congratulations on your new piece. We hope you like it as much as we do!

Once we confirm the final draft with you, we will let you know the date and time when the article will be available online as well as our social media channels. We also encourage you to promote your published article via your own email lists, social media, Listservs, distribution at conferences and any other innovative techniques you wish to adopt. Thank you for considering Unbuilt Labs.
